Over two thousand seven hundred years ago one of the greatest civilizations known to man was founded. Ancient Rome stands as the foundation of modern civilization and continues to inspire the imagination of millions. In December 2019 the Senate and People of Rome was restored by Romulus Iulius Constantinus and Leo Maecilius Gregorius through mutual election to the office of Consul.

The modern SPQR is restoring many ancient Roman institutions including voting bodies, religious institutions, as well was the Roman culture and mindset.

The Senate and People of Rome exists today as a government-in-exile. Meaning that it claims legitimate authority over its historic territory. However, the SPQR recognizes the practical reality of current governments in control of this territory, and desires peaceful cooperation with them for mutual benefit.

The restored Rome desired to provide a stability and help bring about a new golden age of Pax Romana, despite the growing political and cultural turmoil in the Mediterranean region. We invite all to join in rebuilding our past, to save our present, and protect our future.

Culture

Ancient Rome is considered by many to be the pinnacle of ancient culture. Even today its culture serves as the foundation for modern civilization. It is the goal of the SPQR to restore ancient Roman culture in combination with modern cultural improvements. This also includes the re-establishment of Latin.

Founder

Romulus Iulius Constantinus is the founder of this effort to restore the Senate and People of Rome. He was born in the United States in the year MMDCCXXXVII AUC (1984 AD). In these troubled times he has taken up the task of restoring the Senate and People of Rome. The strength of the ancient Roman civilization is needed now more than ever. By restoring Rome we can again bring about a new golden age of Pax Romana (Roman Peace).
